Legislative Priorities
The Michigan Breast Cancer Coalition (MIBCC) is a member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition
(NBCC) and follows its legislative agenda.
Since the inception of NBCC in 1992, their grassroots advocacy efforts have resulted in the allocation of $2.2 billion of the Department of Defense (DoD) budget for the DoD Breast Cancer Research Program, which supports breast cancer research.
Each year advocates from MIBCC go to Washington DC to lobby our congressmen for this very important program. Each year we request $150 million and have often been successful in getting this funding approved for this program. It is important that advocates have a voice at the table in research funding and many from MIBCC have served as grant reviewers for this program. Go to http://cdmrp.army.mil/bcrp/ for more information.
It is important to know which of our legislative representatives support the DoD Breast Cancer Research Program (http://cdmrp.army.mil/bcrp/). Each year we must work to sustain this program. Efforts of the NBCC and MIBCC are very important to continue this funding. See document below for your representatives record of support.
