Project LEAD

Project LEAD is a scientific training program offered by the National Breast Cancer Coalition.

Four to six days of molecular biology and epidemiology (the area of medical science that studies causes of disease and effects within a particular population) will allow advocates to be knowledgeable about the issues when sitting at the table where public policy is being made, and where research proposals are being evaluated for possible funding. After completing Project LEAD, advocates may be qualified to review breast cancer research grant applications, serve on local hospital boards, or serve on state organizations for programs such as the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program.
